Lapsang Souchong and a box of See’s chocolates

Have you ever tasted a well worn leather baseball mitt? Maybe had just a sip? I haven’t. But I have drunk a steaming cup of Lapsang Souchong tea and, I’m pretty sure that a baseball glove would taste just the same. Broken in. As if it would catch a ball with a solid thud. It’s also as fun a name to say as it is rich and earthy to drink. I didn’t catch the varietal of that bottle of red wine my neighbor cracked open this evening while a few of us were sitting outside on the front porch of our very social apartment building, but damn, was it Lapsang Souchongy… earthy and smoky and rich. It went great with that box of See’s chocolate that I found forgotten in a drawer purchased a few months back for my Aunt Vicky. Never delivered. Those chocolates – those were for you Aunt Vicky. (You’d have liked the red wine too).
