Sipping a whiskey cocktail at the whiskey pub and talking to a few girlfriends about the latest shows we were watching. My contribution was tremendous, “Has anyone seen Sex Education? It’s about the sexual escapades and other happenings of a bunch of high school kids. It’s pretty entertaining. The lead adult actress – shit, what’s her name?… – she’s the one from that 1990’s super popular show about paranormal FBI cases – shit, what was that show called…?” No one had seen it and my clues weren’t helping; thus ended that line of conversation.

Cut to three hours later at a restaurant down the street from the whiskey pub. Delightfully full and happy from a fab dinner, as we passed the hostess stand on our way out the door, I overheard one of the two 20-something hostesses ask the other – “oh hey, have you ever seen the X-Files…?”

Oh, thanks! That’s the show I was trying to remember. “Hey ladies, the lead actress in Sex Education is Gillian Anderson!”

How did that even happen? What goofy guy in the sky was directing traffic such that two girls born well after the series ended were talking about a show that I had been trying to recall hours earlier at the exact milli-second I was walking past them….
